Working alongside animals with their own minds means every day is different. It can teach us resilience, boundaries and awareness of both our own and the animal’s behaviour and feelings. It can help to develop communication skills and appreciate how we are all unique.

Many of us have been lucky enough to share our lives with an animal and can probably relate to the devastation this causes when they reach the end of their life.
I hold a calm and supportive space where people can come and explore their grief, providing compassionate and practical support for adults and young people.
We can discuss what you are looking for during our consultation session, to see what type of session feels right for you.
Outdoor Therapy is a great alternative to regular Counselling. Getting Children and Young People out of the Therapy room and in to nature.
All sessions are client led. Children and Young People are actively involved in choosing different activities, which encourages them to make their own choices and grow in self confidence.
Perfect for those who love being outdoors and would benefit from practical based sessions.
Outdoor Therapy can include a range of activities such as farm scavenger hunts, print tracking, nature walks, navigation and creative games to explore feelings and emotions.
Benefits of Outdoor Therapy include:
I am extremely passionate about animals and believe we can learn a lot from what they have to offer. They live in the moment, are non judgemental and extremely forgiving. Working alongside animals with their own minds means each day is different. It can teach us resilience, boundaries and build awareness of our own and the animals feelings and emotions. It can help develop communication skills and help us appreciate we are all unique. We should relish what each of us, as individuals have to offer in this life as we all have a purpose and deserve to be appreciated.
Each of the animals have their own unique personalities and have been carefully selected for their temperament. Tyson (Sheep) is extremely confident, affectionate and thrives off human interaction.
Betty (sheep) on the other hand can be more timid. Both of the sheep love getting involved in a range of different activities.
My Therapy Dog Rolo is deaf, requiring a completely different form of communication. At times this can be challenging when learning new things, but when that connection has been established, you will find a deeper means of communication and trust like no other.
The human- animal bond is something to treasure and I look forward to sharing this with you.
Practical sessions are held in a secure area to maintain client and animal safety. This allows you to get to know each other and learn how to work with each of the animals. We can also venture out with the dog for a change of scenery.
Rolo can come in for counselling sessions for emotional support, with ample room on the sofa he will love to keep you company throughout. He offers naturally grounding behaviours such as sitting on your feet or leaning in to you like a 4 legged weighted blanket.
During lambing season, there may be other tame lambs to feed and interact with - this will need to be discussed and arranged before hand. We can also feed the chickens and look for eggs, as well as feeding the pigs.
Benefits of Animal Assisted Therapy:
Getting out in to nature can benefit our physical and mental wellbeing in many ways.
Taking sessions outside can be less directive, giving you an alternative focus throughout, helping you to talk more freely whilst embracing nature and all it has to offer.
We will start our walk & talk sessions around the farm to allow us to get to know each other. When we both feel comfortable we can head out an explore the local trails. We do not have to power walk, we can walk at your pace and find a suitable route that works for you. For those chilly days, we can also head off with a flask of tea to help keep us warm.
When walking in the countryside, its great to see what wildlife we stumble across on the way. On the walks around the local area you may see geese, deer, ducks and birds, as well as the livestock grazing in the surrounding fields.
If you have any worries or concerns around livestock, please let me know in advance to ensure we plan our routes accordingly. I want you to enjoy your session and feel safe.
