Yes, despite the name, its not all about the animals here. Counselling sessions are held face to face in a comfortable, private space located here on the farm, alternatively, sessions can be held online.
I also offer walk and talk and outdoor therapy. if you would like to be outside. Please have a look at our services page for more information.
If you are unable to attend your session, please let me know as soon as possible and we can re arrange something for the same week. I do require a minimum of 24 hours notice to avoid cancellation fees.
Yes, I offer a 30 minute face to face consultation for £20. It's important to find a Counsellor that you feel comfortable with. Children and Young People are offered to come out in person to visit with a family member. This way they can have a look around, see where they will be coming and meet in person. This allows young clients to gauge if what I offer feels right for them and allowing them time and choice of weather or not they wish to commit to further sessions.
PAWS for Thought Counselling is based on a working farm on the edge of Exmoor. If we are
working outside or with the animals, sturdy footwear and warm clothing is recommended and being prepared for all weathers. Please avoid wearing jewellery to prevent it getting lost, damaged or causing harm to the animals.
For counselling inside, the Therapy room is fully insulated, with heating and
a blanket should you need it. Please wear what you feel comfortable in, as long as it
appropriate for what we are doing.
After the initial consultation, you will receive a referral form to complete. If suitable this will be followed by a 30 minute face to face consultation at non-refundable fee of £20. It’s really important that you feel comfortable and safe when here for your sessions. The same goes for the animals that we interact with.
By having a consultation session, this allows me to see how you interact with the animals, gain an understanding of how you feel being around them, as well as monitoring potential stress levels in the animals. This is a great opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and to see if what I offer feels right for you. Our aim is for this to be a safe and enjoyable experience for all involved, which is why compatibility is key.
Please Note: It is down to my discretion, as to whether Animal Assisted Therapy is suitable
for each individual client. Animal welfare, well being and client safety is my upmost priority.
Unfortunately you cannot bring your dog along to your sessions
