PAWS for Thought Counselling is based on a working farm on the outskirts of Exmoor National Park. I offer Counselling & Animal Assisted Therapy for both Adults and Young People on a 1:1 basis.
Considering or committing to Therapy can be a huge step, one which should be recognised and supported. I believe that finding the right counsellor to suit you is important and a process that shouldn't be rushed. You should feel supported and heard without judgement, and given a safe space to explore what’s going on for you. No issue is silly or “not a big deal”. If it’s impacting your day to day life and mental health, it’s something worth looking at, a chance to invest some quality time to work on yourself and your own needs.
At PAWS for Thought Counselling, I do not just work with animals. Anyone is welcome here for counselling, whether you like animals or not, this space is made to suit you.
Through my own experience of attending Counselling, I personally know how challenging it can be to sit down and talk to someone face to face. So if this has been the case for you, I really do hear you. This is why I offer a service that meets the needs of those who share this struggle, making use of the unique and picturesque countryside and all it has to offer.
I am a qualified Humanistic Integrative Counsellor and registered with the BACP. Each person that seeks Counselling will be looking for something different, so having a chat together first can be beneficial. I will be open and honest about what I have to offer and there is no obligation to continue afterwards. This decision is and always should be yours to make.
We can use a range of approaches to aid our work together, but the true work is done by you, for you. This is why I offer a safe and confidential space where you can safely gain depth and understanding of the issues you wish to explore . During our sessions you are in control of what we talk about, you will not be pressured in to talking about issues you do not wish to discuss. You are in the driving seat ,I can assure you I’ll be right there with you and we can explore this together and in your own time.
Counselling can build our self-awareness, helping us to understand what makes us do the things we do, helping to move towards personal growth. Developing a valuable skill set to help you work through these issues and strive towards a more fulfilling life.
The aim is to have the ability to utilise these skills, to support yourself once you finish your counselling journey.
If you have any questions regarding my qualifications, I am happy to discuss this with you further.
Rolo is a 5-year-old working Cocker Spaniel. He is a Certified Therapy dog and fully insured to work within a Therapeutic setting.
Rolo is deaf, so requires alternative communication, helping to create a deeper, meaningful connection with people. In his spare time Rolo likes to run on the beach and compete in Heelwork to Music.
Tyson is a Mule x Dorset Wether Lamb. Due to being rejected at birth, Tyson was bottle fed which made him very tame. Tyson is extremely confident and will happily come and greet you.
Tyson was always different from the other tame lambs. He thrives on human interaction and has showed willingness and enthusiasm to training.
Betty is a Dorset Ewe Lamb. Betty is more timid of the two and can be wary of others at times. She is very friendly and enjoys interacting with people, once she gets to know them.
Due to being a flock animal, the sheep work well together.
